Team McLaren Mercedes test program with the MP4-21 got underway with Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen in Valencia, Spain, on February 14-17, 2006 prior to the start of the 2006 season in Bahrain.

During one of these sessions, at the end of a stint, Montoya signed the top tear-off he had just used on track. It clearly shows signs of rubber debris and insect impacts. The tear-off in question was later fitted onto a genuine Arai GP5 dark-smoke visor, adorned with McLaren's 2006 sunstrip.
