Description

Over the course of the season the Renault R26 scored 8 wins out of 18 races, followed closely by its rival Ferrari 248 F1. The R26 helped Renault claim the Constructors' Championship with a 5-point advantage over Ferrari, and took Fernando Alonso to his second Drivers' Championship in succession, 13 points ahead of Michael Schumacher. It brought the last Constructors' Championship in recent history to tire manufacturer Michelin.

The car was famed for its reliability; Fernando Alonso started all of the 2006 races utilizing a single chassis (R26-03). The R26 led more laps and won more races than any single chassis in 2006 in addition to winning the world championship. R26-03 now sits at Renault's “Histoire et Collection” heritage collection in Paris.

This carbon fiber original steering wheel assembly (with carbon paddles and full electronics) was race-used by Fernando Alonso throughout the 2006 World Championship (at multiple races). It was adopted after the end of the 2006 season within the Enstone team for use by the drivers to test starting reaction times as well as gear change responses. Accordingly, it is complete with a power adaptor, carbon connection module and custom umbilical that connects via the quick release spline to activate the simulation modes.

This wonderful steering wheel from the title winning car comes in its custom flight case with superb provenance, direct from the collection of a former Enstone senior. Unique.
